About Ben

I am an information professional interested in helping others develop their skills, particularly in the arenas of effective communication and managing others. My work has primarily been in local government positions, but I've also done stints in food service, corporate settings, and universities. I started better-boss.com to help managers learn practical, no nonsense ways to create genuine relationships with their teams and engage in frequent, candid communication about the work.

I am also an educator for the University of Illinois iSchool, teaching Personnel Management & Financial Management, and I occasionally do speaking engagements on those topics.
